The official “Legend of Korra” wants to know who fans would cast for Tahno. They suggest several options: not even one actor is of Asian or First Nations descent.
It’s just a fantasy casting, but still disappointing to see from the official tumblr. On the other hand, a fantasy casting means it’s pretty low stakes…and yet actors from these two underrepresented groups still can’t compete— and are invisible from the speculation and discussion—when it is rare enough to have fantasy world characters like Tahno that resemble them at all.

Reason #102020 why this show was a huge letdown: This storyline was never fully explored and textually it actually seems like we’re supposed to agree that those people are oppressing themselves. Korra’s actions are never actually called out after this and her attitude toward the non-benders don’t really change.
“You’re our Avatar, too.”
Except not really. At least she never shows it because apparently everything was perfect again once Amon was defeated and the Equalists just seemingly went away and all the non-benders just stopped giving a shit about not having a member in the biggest political body in the city or people in the police department etc.
If it didn’t sound so much like this plot will just be dropped for Season 2, I wouldn’t have minded, but S2 is all about spirits and shit so yeah.

I’ve discovered that the hem of his coat thing likes to travel up, and get shorter and shorter, because it started out way longer than that OH WELL. Also discovered: decent theatrical makeup is waterproof.
I don’t intend to cosplay unmasked Amon at a con, but I wanted to take a shot at his scar makeup. I managed to keep the corner of my mouth taut and open with a crapton of rigid collodian and grimacing until it dried. The coloring isn’t perfect, probably less red, time to do some disturbing Google Image search for next time!please marry me
